We are extremely happy that we got the opportunity to host this exciting event in Kuwait.

In my capacity as Chairman of D20TAC “District-20 Toastmasters Annual Conference” and on behalf of the Kuwaiti people and all the Toastmaster members, I would like to welcome you all to the state of Kuwait to be part of this event.

We the District-20 with our member countries the states of Qatar, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, will strive to provide a fulfilling and a positive learning experience, with the Toastmaster International values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.

In true Kuwaiti hospitality and spirit, I welcome you all to Kuwait’s D20TAC conference.

Toastmasters International

Toastmasters International (TI) is a nonprofit educational organization headquartered in USA. TI operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Through its thousands of member clubs, TI offers a program of communication and leadership projects designed to help people learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking.

The organization grew out of a single club, Smedley Chapter One Club, which would become the first Toastmasters club. It was founded by Ralph C. Smedley on October 22, 1924, at the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, United States. Throughout its history, TI has served over four million people and today the organization has over 345,000 members in 142 countries, through its over 17,000 member clubs.

Regular meetings are organized by the clubs to ensure that their members get the opportunity to develop their skills. Competitions are held at the club, area, division, district and international level and many prizes are awarded to the winners.

District 20

Toastmasters District 20 (D20) is part of Toastmasters International. District 20, which originally consisted of 7 countries in the Middle East, has seen a phenomenal growth over the past few years. In 2017, D20 has been split into two. Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait which are three of the original seven countries have became one district retaining the name District 20.

Currently in District 20 there are 11 Divisions, 181 clubs & about 4120 members including English & Arabic speaking clubs. There are 55 clubs in Qatar, 67 clubs in Bahrain and 59 clubs in Kuwait.

Every year, District 20 of Toastmasters International organizes District Annual Toastmasters Conference (D20TAC) in one of the member countries. The participating Toastmasters are the ones that make it through Club contest, Area contest and Division contests. The winners of the D20TAC will certainly be the 'Best of the Best' and will represent D20 at the International contests.

About Kuwait

Kuwait, a peninsula nestles beautifully and strategically in the Arabian Gulf. Kuwait is surrounded by Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq. The word Kuwait comes from "Al-Kout" which means a small seaside fort. The population in Kuwait is very diverse, many of which come together with an aim to hone their public speaking skills under a common umbrella to form Toastmasters club.

The first Toastmaster club was established in Kuwait in 1999, and currently there are 59 clubs in Kuwait with more than 500 members. Kuwait has 3 divisions: Div D, Div I are in English language and Div G is in Arabic.

Kuwait exudes the charm of Arabian adventure. Apart from enjoying magnificent accommodation and fine dining, there are plenty of things for visitors to do in Kuwait. Whether you are interested in sight-seeing or simply relaxing, you have plenty to choose from: Kuwait Towers, The Liberation Tower, Al Kout Beach, Dhow Harbour, Grand Mosque, House of Mirrors, Kidzania Kuwait, Kubbar Island, National Museum, Failaka Heritage Village, The Seif Palace, Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park, The Scientific Center, Kuwait Zoological Garden, Entertainment City, Ice Skating Rink and Aqua Park.  


Kuwait will proudly host District 20 Toastmasters Annual Conference for the year 2018 (D20TAC-2018) which is to be held on May 11-12th, 2018.

D20TAC-2018 will feature public speaking, leadership, self-development workshops and speech contests. This is an event where members meet to compete with each other to hone their skills. Even as part of the audience, it is an excellent opportunity for you to acquire skills and knowledge, to make new friends and become better Toastmasters.
